About the Students

Carolina Bonin

Elizabeth Keenan is a Ph.D. student in Behavioral Marketing at the Rady School of Management at UC, San Diego. With a focus on consumer behavior, the goal of  her research is to gain insights and improved understanding of the factors that either encourage or prevent caring for the environment, and further, discover what drives decisions to act upon such attitudes and emotions. Matt Leslie

Matt Leslie is a PhD Student in Marine Biology at Scripps Institution of Oceanography. He conducts research with the Marine Mammal Genetics Group in the Protected Resources Division of the NOAA Southwest Fisheries Science Center. Matt is interested in cetacean conservation, taxonomy and evolutionary biology. He is currently studying the population genetic structure of depleted spinner and spotted dolphins stocks in the eastern tropical Pacific. You can find out more about Matt here.

Levi Lewis

Levi Lewis

Levi Lewis is a PhD Student  in the Coral Reef Ecology Lab at Scripps Institution of Oceanography.  Levi’s current research explores how humans alter key processes & species interactions that affect the health and persistence of habitat-forming species such as corals and seagrasses.  You can find more information about Levi on his website/blog.

Tessa PierceNuri “Tessa” Pierce is a PhD student at Scripps Institution of Oceanography working on molecular -level responses to ocean acidification.

Cotton Rockwood

Cotton Rockwood studies the ecology and conservation of seabirds at Scripps Institution of Oceanography and the Protected Resources Division of the NOAA SWFSC.  Cotton is interested the intersection of international law with conservation in the Pacific Ocean where he hopes to forward a holistic approach to seabird conservation embodied by international cooperation and based in sound science.  You can find more about Cotton here or contact him via e-mail.
